Fusion 2008-2009

These are [some of] the pictures from Fusion 2008-2009.  These young men and ladies have just returned from North and Central Africa, South Asia, and South America.  Their stories of God's faithfulness are amazing!

This year's group had the most intense training to date including advanced first aid, wilderness survival training, trans-continental public transportation training, and contingency (hostage) training.  Survival training was really awesome this year as students were left stranded in the Wasatch Mountains in northern Utah. In this desert enviornment students had to regroup after a simulated plane crash.  Once together they had to travel two days to a pick up zone with limited food and water and NO tents or sleeping bags.  Fire and shelter building skills learned in training became critical!

International deployment saw another Fusion first as students traveled from the USA to serve the Lord on three continents in drastically different settings.  This was truly a great year!

Fusion 2007-2008

In 07-08 Fusion expanded into West Africa.  As the program and process has matured, so have the students.  It is amazing to see young people step from adolescence into Biblical adulthood by taking responsibility for their faith and resulting actions.

Public transportation training was the best to date with travel by plane, train, and bus to: Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Richmond, VA.

Of note: Fusion's contingency training this year included a 26 mile escape and evasion exercise.  It ended at a small airport where students had a short amount of time to meet several light aircraft in order to be flown out of the collapsing "country." This was a really cool exercise and everyone made it to the airfield.  It was a good thing, because the walk home would have been 145 miles...

Fusion 2006-2007

In Fusion's second full year, we added the now ubiquitous Camelbak and our current field uniforms!  These pieces of gear are essential to the Fusion program and lifestyle.  Funny thing about Camelbacks, in addition to 100 oz of water, we have found students carrying everything from food to laptops to Bible tracts.  Once someone even had a bowling ball...

This year saw Fusion expand out of Africa into the Middle East.  Exciting!

Fusion 2005-2006

These are photos from our first full year!  Fusion started with a pilot project in January 2005.  This group deployed to Northwest Africa for two months.  That fall, Fusion kicked off its first nine month program. The students who helped found the program that year were awesome.  No uniforms, no equipment; just some hard core kids who loved Jesus more than themselves or their culture.  In January 2006, we deployed students to several different locations Northern Africa ti share the Gospel with Muslims and support church planting ministries.
